Estamos viviendo oficialmente juntos! Nos mudamos a nuestro nuevo apartamento situado en la hermosa ciudad de Stamford, Connecticut, el 16 de enero del 2010 con la gran ayuda de los padres de Mark y su hermano mayor. Fue un día largo, pero nos sentimos aliviados, una vez que fuimos capaces de poner todas nuestras cosas en nuestro nuevo lugar. Un par de semanas han pasado y nuestro apartamento esta completamente amueblado, limpio y bien organizado. Estamos muy contentos, y esperamos que nuestros amigos y familiares nos visiten frecuentemente. Hasta tenemos una habitación de invitados muy cómoda. Aunque la temporada de largas horas de trabajo ha comenzado, estamos disfrutando nuestro apartamento, cocinando nuevas recetas y tomando mate y café en la mañana y por la noche. Carola recientemente cocino una pizza y estuvo deliciosa!

While visiting Beijing, I tried their signature dish: “Peking Duck” in a restaurant located in one of the hutongs. Hutongs are Bejing’s dissapearing but famous and atmospheric 700-year old alleys and courtyards than can only be toured on foot, bycicle or pedicab.

We tried perch in a local restaurant in the Hou Hai area and before preparing it, they made us choose among the fish that were alive in one of their tanks. Here is the fish, looking at us:

Temple of Heaven, an magnificent temple and park where emperors offered sacrifices. Now is crowded with tourists and local people that gather to sing karaoke, play cards, dance and exercise.

The Great Wall

We visited a section of the Great Wall called Mutianyu, about 70 kilometres northeast of Beijing., walked through many of the watchtowers and climbed until my legs could not go on any more. It was just amazing to have the opportunity to see one of the 7 wonders of the world.

Olympic Stadium – Beijing

We visited the Bird’s nest stadium, the main arena for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. It is the most expensive in Olympic history. The architecture of this stadium is full of hidden symbolism from the Chinese mythology.

The fee to enter the stadium is RMB 60 (about USD 9) and I was told they receive 900 visitors per day.
